Highlights about the Balearic Islands Day

Mercat dia illes Balears


Yesterday the 1st March was the Balearic Islands Day, during this days several activates are held.  Lots of people came and enjoyed besides the weather wasn’t so good.

One of the featured activities was the market in Palma located between Passeig des Born and Sa Faixina. Also there are stands in Plaça Drassana, behind Consolat the Mar.  All kind stands from artisans, local food, medieval themed and also gastronomy from other places of Spain. The brand “producte local” (local good) was presented and a bag with local grocery was gifted to visitors.

On Monday 28th February, a reward ceremony was taken in Consolat de Mar, house of balear government. Several personalities related to Balearic Islands were awarded a gold medal.
The house of balear government was open all the weekend and yesterday 1st of March to offer guided tours about the history and work of the building. Visitors received a t-shirt, notebook, model version of the building and a book about modernism in Majorca.

In Ibiza and Menorca also activities were held to celebrate this date. In Ibiza, the place selected was Sa Coma when 11.200 people enjoy several activities. En Menorca, different activities were held in Plaça de la Conquesta of Maó with a lot of public.
